A counterpoint garden that writes itself: every note is checked against the others before it is allowed to sound.
How it grows. A harmonic planner sketches each phrase with a real cadence at the end. Every voice picks its own rhythm, then proposes candidate notes. Anything that breaks voice leading — parallel fifths and octaves, crossed voices, unprepared dissonance, an unrecovered leap, a note outside the voice's register — is thrown out. What survives is scored for stepwise motion, contrary motion, common tones and motif imitation, and whole vertical combinations are searched together rather than one voice at a time. The chords you hear are a consequence of the lines, not the other way around.
